Many of us are thankful for our pets, but this year, we at the Sewer District were glad to contribute to two happy endings that saved the lives of two very special animals.
Jenni, a two-foot-long alligator, and Rosco, a German Shepherd/Rottweiler mix pup, were both rescued by quick actions by Sewer District employees and they are both living happier and healthier lives this Thanksgiving.
In February, Sewer System Maintenance and Operations crews rescued a puppy after he had fallen into a drain pipe in the basement of a Cleveland home.
He was later adopted by a Sewer District employee, and he has filled out quite a bit since then. Rosco is currently training to be a police dog.
Jenni was discovered along a stretch of Big Creek in Cleveland behind a Sewer District pump station earlier this month. The crew wasn’t exactly sure where she came from, but it is assumed she was abandoned by her owner.
Jenni was cared for by our lab staff until she was transferred to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo where she will join their outreach and education team.
