In a holiday season, some of the greatest gifts go unnoticed
Posted December 15, 2009

Just look to the north and see our Great Lake as a great gift of nature

Cleveland | December 15, 2009
- It can be easy to overlook things. A stranger's kind gesture, a friend's assistance in a difficult time, the little things that can mean so much are, unfortunately, so easily taken for granted.

The same can be said for big things, including the 127 trillion gallons to our north.

Lake Erie is the focus of a holiday commercial campaign sponsored by the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District in which we emphasize the gift of clean water.

"One out of every six people in the world don't have access to safe drinking water," said Sewer District Public Information Specialist Jean Chapman. "It's a statistic you might hear in the advertisements because we hope people understand that our lake and river are tremendous gifts.

"We're proud of our work to protect them, and we hope others can be proud of that resource and their own efforts to keep them clean," she said.

You may hear these brief commercials during the holiday season on local radio stations WDOK, WMJI, and WCPN, and you can lean more about the water cycle and our water-quality efforts at our partner site wheredoesitgo.org.
